Terms of service
Last updated 7 October 2026
The short version
- You get an account; keep its sign-in to yourself.
- Paid plans renew until you cancel. The first payment is refundable within 14 days.
- What you enter stays yours. You are responsible for having the right to enter your students' details.
- Either of us can end the agreement; you can export your data first.
1. Who we are and what these terms cover
WritingWorlds for Teachers (the "service") is provided by WritingWorlds LLC, a Wyoming limited liability company ("we", "us"). These terms are the agreement between you and us for your use of the service at writingworlds.app and the app it links to. By creating an account you accept them. If you are using the service on behalf of a school or another organisation, you confirm that you have the authority to accept these terms for it.
2. Your account
You need an account to use the service. You sign in with a Google account, a Microsoft account, or a magic link sent to your email address. You are responsible for everything done through your account, so keep your sign-in details to yourself and tell us straight away through the Help page inside the app if you think someone else has used it.
You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority where you live, to open an account. The service is made for teachers and school staff; students do not need an account to submit work through a link.
3. What the service is
The service is a classroom organiser. It lets you keep class rosters, take attendance, set assignments and collect submissions, mark work by hand, align lessons and assignments to curriculum standards and track coverage, keep a calendar, and export documents in DOCX and PDF formats.
Curriculum standards in the service are reproduced from their publishers for reference. We work to keep them accurate, but the publisher's own text is the authoritative version.
4. Plans, payment and cancellation
The Free plan costs nothing and has the limits shown on the pricing page. Paid plans (Starter, Pro and School) are subscriptions billed in advance, either monthly or yearly, at the prices shown on the pricing page when you subscribe. Prices are in US dollars and exclude any sales tax or VAT that applies where you live.
A subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period until you cancel. You can cancel at any time from your account settings. Cancelling stops future charges; your plan stays active until the end of the period you have already paid for, and then your account moves to the Free plan.
The first payment of a new subscription is refundable in full if you ask within 14 days of the charge. Beyond that, we do not refund part of a month or part of a year. The full refund policy is part of these terms.
If we change a plan's price, we will tell you by email at least 30 days before the new price applies to you. If you do not agree, you can cancel before it takes effect.
5. Your content and your students' data
Everything you enter into the service, including class lists, student names, attendance records, assignments, submissions, marks and comments, is your content. You own it. We store it and show it back to you and to the co-teachers you add to a class, and we do nothing else with it except what is needed to run the service and what the privacy policy describes.
You are responsible for your content. In particular, when you enter details about students, you confirm that you are allowed to do so under your school's policies and the law that applies to you, and that you will use the service in line with them. Where data-protection law applies, you (or your school) decide why and how student data is processed, and we process it on your instructions.
You can export your content at any time, and you can ask us to delete your account and everything in it; see the privacy policy for how.
6. Acceptable use
Use the service for its purpose: organising your teaching. Do not use it to store content that is unlawful, that infringes someone else's rights, or that you have no right to hold. Do not try to get into other people's accounts, probe or overload our systems, or copy the service or its curriculum library for resale. Do not share submission links or invite links with anyone who should not have them.
If an account is used in a way that breaks these rules or puts other users at risk, we may suspend it while we look into it, and we will tell you why.
7. Availability and changes
We aim to keep the service available all the time, but we cannot promise it will be. We may take it offline briefly for maintenance, and we will try to do that outside school hours. We may add, change or remove features; if we remove a feature that a paid plan includes, we will tell you at least 30 days in advance.
8. Ending the agreement
You can close your account at any time from your settings or by emailing us. We can end the agreement with 30 days' notice, or sooner if you break these terms seriously. In either case you can export your content before the account closes, and we delete it afterwards as the privacy policy describes.
9. What we are responsible for
We provide the service with reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for losses that we could not reasonably have foreseen, for losses caused by something outside our control, or for losses that come from your own breach of these terms. Our total liability to you for anything connected to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or $100 if that is more. Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law does not allow us to limit.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wyoming, United States, and any dispute about them will be heard by the state or federal courts located in Wyoming, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring a claim at home.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. For anything more than a correction, we will email account holders at least 14 days before the change takes effect. The date at the top shows when they were last changed.
12. Contact
Questions about these terms go through the Help page inside the app, or see the contact page.
